I refuse to take anyone seriously when they clearly disrespect their fellow humans enough to casually tell them to “go jump off of something.”  Really? As if human life is less valuable than these livestock you’re so vehemently defending?  If so, you’ve got your priorities so fucked up it’s beyond belief, and to me, you sound like a stuck up, crazy bitch who thinks she’s better than everyone else just because she would rather eat a salad instead of a steak.

and yeah I don’t think of myself as being morally superior to anything. Hell, I’m pretty damn chill about being vegetarian. The last time I said anything like this was uh

2 years ago after being tormented endlessly by a fellow classmate about being vegetarian.

Now obviously you read no further than my original post, and I later said that I valued human life over animal life. Hell, my motives for being vegetarian are ethical ones. But that also means that they’re subjective to each person that I express them to. So there is in fact some scientific backing to what I’m saying.

I’ll explain it for you. The bottom rung of the pyramid are the producers. Ones who produce their own food biologically. There are also more of them than the other animals, so their spot on the pyramid is bigger. Fo example, there are more blades of grass than there are cows, right? Since cows eat multiple grains of grass it only makes sense that there wouldn’t be a single cow for each blade of grass. Effectively, there would have to be less animals than there are people as we eat more than one animal in our life time.

What I’ saying is, if the whole world were to spontaneously go vegetarian (ovo-lacto vegetarian) then the earth would be able to support more people, as we would move down to the bottom rung of the pyramid. And I know such a wish is impossible, and never going to happen, etc. So don’t get on me about that. I understand this. But hypothetically, it would end world hunger for a short while (eventually overpopulation would starve us out but that’s kind of happening already). Not to mention the health benefits of vegetarianism, less heart attacks, longer life spans, less health issues, etc.

Also, I don’t think I’m better than anyone. Have you ever in your life been disgusted with humanity as a whole? I mean, most people have. I think. Hell, maybe it IS just me. And I know for a fact I’m not perfect. My internet settings are “never remember internet history.” There’s gay porn way back in my tumblr. I’m an internet addict. I’VE SEEN SOME SHIT. But when I hear of the atrocities the human race commits against one another, it saddens me. When people are worrying about where to drill oil instead of investing in alternate energy resources it’s frightening. On the whole, we’re incredibly short sighted. Myself included. I just have the ability to step back and say, “wow, we’re fucked up.”
